A fast grower adding 12 to 18 inches in height per year, when all grown up it might reach around 20 feet tall or so and 4 to 8 feet wide. How wide it grows is up to you. To maintain a more narrow form, an annual trimming on older plants is recommended. Otherwise, though young plants will be very narrow and more dense, with age the tree will become a little more open and broadly pyramidal if left to grow naturally. One way or the other, the branches all grow upward and are clothed in lush, bright bluish green new growth maturing to a darker blue-green as they mature. Cooler temperatures in fall bring lovely golden to bronze shades shades. After the needles drop the attractive reddish bark takes the stage adding interest in the landscape during winter. As with so many other conifers, constantly soggy or waterlogged soil is problematic. Just keep in mind that whether growing in the ground or in pots, good drainage is essential. A little shade is tolerated however plants won't be as full. Maintenance is minimal to none though an annual trimming in summer can be done for size control and shaping purposes.
