It is also nice for framing the corners of homes or other structures, as an outdoor Christmas tree, or trimming to form a spiral or poodle tier topiary. Being a North American native makes this coniferous evergreen very easy to grow. The attractive feathery foliage is dense and emerald green with a very smooth feel. As with other Eastern Red Cedars, abundant blue berries the birds will appreciate will adorn the foliage in late fall. Everything from eastern bluebirds and evening grosbeaks to wild turkeys and sharp-tailed grouse devour the fruit. While plants of the original species will vary in size and shape as they grow, we grow Emerald Feather from cuttings, which results in clones that will provide uniformity in growth rate, form and size, provided soil conditions in the planting area are similar.
