Since then, over 30 Encore varieties have been released. The ruffled flowers are very similar in appearance to the old 'Pink Ruffle' azalea. In general, like all other azaleas, the Encores prefer an organically rich, moist but well-drained acidic soil. Constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic for azaleas. Heavy clay, quick-draining sand, or otherwise poor soils are best amended with organic matter or other soil amendments to provide sufficient nutrients, better soil drainage, and\/or moisture retention. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eIn containers, a 50\/50 blend of professional potting mix and potting soil is suggested. I was exceedingly delighted with the condition of the plants and will have no second thoughts about recommending products that you sell on the internet. Some of the plants were in limited bloom and the color rendition was accurate; just the colors that I had envisioned.The three azaleas that we purchased, as described below, arrived in fantastic condition, a little dry (still in excellent turgor), but fixable with a water drench. It was about a week before we got them in the ground so we checked the plants daily and kept the well potted and trimmed plants in a shaded area until they were planted.Since I had contracted with a local guy, who has been doing this kind of work professionally for better than 35 years, to remove some rather large red tipped photonia and plant the azaleas in the same area. I thought it was amusing that the first thing he did was shake the plant and remarked that they were free of insects and the leaf color was brilliant. He may have seen other seller's product who had sent their rooted plants differently.Nevertheless, he planted them and came back several days later to inspect and mulch them. Some of the plants were in bloom and the color rendition was accurate and just the colors that I had envisioned. We liked the pink color and the picture on the net was identical to what we received..Thanks for that.
