The thistle-like flowers are made up of tiny flowers packed together in an egg-shaped dome that sits atop a collar of narrow powder-blue bracts. A favorite of florists, the long-lasting flowers are excellent for cutting and use in fresh or dried floral arrangements. Also a favorite of butterflies and beneficial pollinators, but deer and rabbits turn their nose up. A colorful and textural compliment to any garden or container, Blue Cap makes for a striking addition to dry and sunny perennial borders and rock gardens where the soil is very well-drained.
