It is a less aggressive grower than some of the other wisterias, but is well noted for its excellent winter hardiness and ability to produce flowers even as far north as USDA Zones 3, as mentioned. The vine can grow upwards of 25 feet in height\/length and features racemes of fragrant, pea-like, soft lavender-blue flowers with darker highlights and a soft yellow center...not the purple, solid lavender or solid blue color you might see pictured elsewhere on the internet.
