The periwinkle-blue flowers appear all the way up and down the flowering stems beginning in late spring continuing through late summer. The plant itself has a more upright habit that will reach its mature height of 3 feet tall and nearly as wide in only 2 years. Its stems are clothed in attractive minty green leaves that repel bothersome insect pests, but the flowers attract the butterflies and beneficial pollinators as well as hummingbirds. Its aromatic foliage also attracts cats, hence the name. That said, none of our cats have ever bothered the plant, but they do like to nap beside it. Deer and rabbits turn their nose up to it.
