In summer it features a profusion of bell-shaped pink flowers the butterflies, hummingbirds and beneficial pollinators will thank you for. Following the flowers is an equally amazing profusion of pink colored pearl-like berries that will turn heads and capture the attention of many bird species as well who will feast on them through fall and winter. The berries contain saponin, which the birds don't seem to mind, but it makes them taste like soap to humans. Needless to say, we don't advise eating them! Attractive blue-green eucalyptus-like foliage through the season on upright arching branches contrasts beautifully with the berries, and berried branches are ideal for cutting and display in floral arrangements. Amazingly pretty yet tough, adaptable, and easy to grow in USDA Zones 4-9, and reaching maybe 2.5 feet tall and equally as wide, the Candy Coralberry is a cheery accent in small garden spaces or containers or in groupings or as a natural and colorful hedge where space allows. A perfect plant for the winter garden.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a rounded mound 2.5 feet tall and 2.5 to 3 feet wide, the Candy Coralberry is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and mixed flowering shrub borders or in groupings or as a natural hedge in sunny top partially shaded landscape and woodland borders. Also nice around patios, porches, decks and other outdoor sitting and living spaces where the berries can be enjoyed from close up. A fine addition to butterfly and hummingbird gardens, cutting gardens, pink theme gardens, wildlife gardens, native plant gardens and cottage gardens.

Suggested Spacing: 2.5 feet apart for solid hedges or groupings; 5 feet or more for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Candy Coralberry is very easy to grow in a wide range of soils preferring a moist but well-drained soil of average to even low fertility and full sun to part shade. For the best flower and berry production we suggest 5 hours or more of direct sunlight per day. Moderate drought tolerance when established but more flowers and berries are produced in a moist soil. No pruning necessary however responds well to it for size control or shaping purposes. Avoid pruning after flowering or you'll be removing berries.

Plant Long & Prosper!

Meet The Wilson Brothers & Staff

Questions? Contact Us!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0751/3263/3242/files/symphoricarpos-doorenbosii-candy-coralberry-5.jpg?v=1779980677
