Its very lacy and soft-textured leaves emerge a bright lime-green in spring transitioning to a medium green by summer and then to attractive yellow and orange shades with the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall. The foliage is quite dense, especially when growing in more sun, but after the leaves drop in late fall the contorted branches take center stage through winter.
