In late summer, chains of bead-like, neon red flower buds begin to form in clusters at the ends of stems showing off throughout the winter. Then, in early spring these red buds open to fragrant, lantern-shaped soft-pink flowers which are produced in such abundance they nearly cover the foliage. Following the early spring bloom, colorful copper-red new leaves emerge maturing to a glossy deep green throughout the the rest of the year.
