It has an upright pyramidal form that eventually becomes more of a rounded pyramid with age. It is clothed in attractive and soft-to-the-touch bluish green needles to 5 inches long in bundles that provide a soft texture and cool color that draws the eye. When trees reach around 5 years of age they begin to produce very attractive cylindrical, copper-brown cones up to 8 inches long that hang downward from the stems.
