It forms a finely textured neat mound of powdery gray-blue foliage that stays bright through all seasons for year-round interest. The upright flower spikes that rise above the tidy mounds in late spring and summer add even more interest to this wonderful ornamental grass. Flowers start out greenish-blue and fade to a straw-yellow color by late summer. If you'd rather not have the flowers they can be removed without harming the plant. In early spring, dead blades can be teased by combing through the foliage with your hand, or plants can be cut back  to about 4 inches above the ground.
