It features a dense canopy of deep green, serrated, oval-elliptic leaves that turn yellow in the fall, making it ideal for providing some shade around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces. With age, its gray bark peels to display green and orange underbark, providing a unique texture and color, hence \"lacebark\" in the name. Exceptionally easy to grow, it thrives in average to poor soils and is highly drought-tolerant when established, also tolerating occasionally wet soil.
