An acid soil will create blue flowers while an alkaline soil creates pink flowers. The plants will tolerate full sun in northern zones however appreciate some afternoon shade or filtered sun in warmer southern zones. We recommend at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day or all day lightly filtered sun for best flowering. Unlike other mophead hydrangea, you can prune the Everlasting Hydrangeas at any time of year, though we recommend a late winter pruning and a deadheading (removal of faded flowers) after its first flush of blooms have faded. Flowers may be blue or purple tinted in acid soils.
