In early spring, before its foliage emerges, its gracefully weeping branches are covered in abundant clusters of sparkling, pinkish-purple pea-like flowers. As the bloom ends, new leaves emerge in shades of dark purple to amethyst. As the season progresses, the leaves transition to handsome dark blue-green shades, with any new leaves emerging in reddish-purple.
