As with its Sawara Cypress cousins, it responds well to trimming or shearing for size control and\/or shaping purposes to form a shorter, more dense pyramid at half its mature height. It features open sprays of thread-like yellow new growth on its exterior and green on the interior. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil is problematic. Avoid overwatering, providing only enough water to maintain a damp or moist soil. It has moderate drought tolerance when established but will appreciate an occasional deep soaking during an extended period of drought.
