The foliage at the tops of the branches gracefully arch, hence the name. A very fast grower to 25 feet in just a couple years, this bamboo forms a super-tight clump of 1 inch diameter culms just a few feet wide in only two years. It's also a nice container plant for use on patios and around other sitting areas and can be grown in well-lit indoor spaces provided the ceiling is high enough to accommodate a plant that could reach 10 to 12 feet in height. Bamboo only puts up new shoots for a short time each year and, when they are \"shooting,\" the new plants are very fragile and easy to destroy.
