It forms a dense, bright green carpet of thick, succulent foliage 2 to 3 inches high by 24 or more inches wide, In late spring to early summer the foliage becomes smothered with quilled, bright yellow flowers that have cute, golden-orange centers. The evergreen foliage turns red during the winter months providing extra appeal in the garden.
