In mid to late spring it features abundant pendulous clusters of fragrant, bell-shaped white flowers with showy yellow stamens. Following the flowers are cream color, olive-shaped fruits that many species of birds love. The attractive, oval shaped, glossy leaves are a rich green turning red and\/or yellow with the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall. The smooth and attractive gray bark becomes fissured with age revealing orange under bark, which adds appeal during the winter in the landscape.
