The canes emerge green turning to yellow with a green stripe in the sulcus groove as they age. Patterned striping on the sides alternate up and down the cane. The culm nodes are compacted giving this species a great look on larger canes and making it excellent for use in crafts. Providing additional interest are the occasional variegated leaves. Koi Golden Bamboo is a moderate to fast grower that you can expect to reach 15 feet tall or more in USDA Zone 6 and 25 to 30 feet tall in zones further south. The stand is thick and impenetrable and the branching low for a dense tall hedge or privacy screen or as a specimen in large containers. \u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/div\u003e\n\u003cdiv\u003eKoi Golden Bamboo loves the sun but will also grow in part shade and is hardy to 5°F.
