Its fragrant young leaves are vivid blue turning soft reds to purple in winter. Maggie's bark is a stunning deeply furrowed black. She will thrive in USDA Zones 7a through 11 and may survive colder zones with some protection, and is one of the most vigorous re-growers if frozen to the ground. A great choice for areas prone to wide swings in temperatures. I planted in OK, on the cold end of this plant's grow zone, in early May, when temperatures can still be cool in the evenings. Was so preoccupied with keeping her warm, that I neglected to prepare her for sun exposure. Failing to harden her off got a few of her leaves sunburned, but she bounced right back. I would better prepare for acclimating to sun if planting again, other than that, no issues.
