In late spring through early summer 4 to 6 inch spiked clusters of lipped purplish blue flowers rise above the foliage for an extra bonus. Slowly spreading to maybe a foot wide in 2 to 3 years with foliage to 3 inches high, Metallica Crispa is ideal for use as an accent in small garden spaces and combination container gardens, or in groupings or as a gap-filler between stepping stones in a partially shaded path. Very nice in rock gardens. We've found it to be extremely heat tolerant and resistant to powdery mildew in our north-central Georgia gardens.
