Though it will grow in wet soils and even standing water, it thrives in average moist but well-draining soils, where it gradually spreads to form a dense, upright clump to 3 feet or so wide and 3 to 4 feet tall over time. In late spring to early summer, exquisite flowers perched atop sturdy stems rise 30 to 36 inches high. With a soft and soothing color, the flowers have creamy white petals gently brushed with lavender around the edges. The style arms and signals are yellow and outlined in purple. Needless to say, the flowers are excellent for cutting and displaying in a vase or flower arrangement.
