Discovered and released by Lake County Nursery in Perry, Ohio, this little guy forms a dense mound that might reach 4 to 5 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide over time with no pruning. In mid to late spring, the mound is covered in an abundance of 3-inch diameter ball-shaped clusters of pretty flowers that emerge green, transitioning to creamy white. The flower clusters stand out beautifully against a backdrop of attractive dark green, 2 to 3-inch long, ovate, strongly-veined leaves, which turn to handsome burgundy shades in fall. The flowers are excellent for cutting and display in fresh or dried flower arrangements. It is drought tolerant when established, and we've seen no serious pest or disease problems. Deer haven't touched it in our gardens. For best flowering, at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day is suggested. It doesn't require pruning, though it responds well to it for shaping purposes or to remove a stray branch.
