The Oakland Holly is perfect for framing the corners of homes and other structures or in privacy screen plantings. It is self fruiting holly that does not need a pollinator to produce its abundant, bright red berries.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 15 to 20 feet tall and 10 to 15 feet wide (depending on pruning), the Oakland Holly is ideal for use as a specimen, in groupings, or in single or staggered rows to form a solid privacy screen. Thanks so much for taking the time to provide your review as it helps others to know who we are and the quality of our plants. Let us know if there's ever anything else we can help you with. We're at your service! - Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens

I bought a variety of shrubs from you this spring...the oakland holly, gardenia, an abelia, and plum yew. They are scattered through my yard. I also planted a few other things from local nurseries. We had a really hot stretch for 2 weeks - mid-nineties - unusual for Charlottesville, Va. I watered diligently. Of the new plantings this spring, only yours came through unscathed! The others suffered various degrees of damage and I lost a couple of azaleas altogether. So, I will definitely be purchasing from you again! - Nancy Campbell ---------- WBG Reply: Hi Nancy! - Thanks so much taking the time to provide your review, and for the compliments on our plants. Probably the reason why our plants do better than some others is that we have a very stringent irrigation and fertilization program. We don't over saturate plants and never ever water at night, both of which can lead to unseen, harmful diseases that cause slow death or even shock when there are weather extremes that stress the already weakened plants. Too, we mostly use the best slow-release granular fertilizers instead of micro-feeding plants every day with liquid feed. Plants daily fed with liquid feed will often decline or shock after planting if not provided their regular dose of fertilizer and slowly weened off. Let us know if there's ever anything else we can help you with. We're at your service. Plant Long & Prosper! - Brent | Wilson Bros Gardens

I received a shipment from Wilson Brothers last week. It was gorgeous! All 6 of the Oakland Holly plants were healthy and thriving - nothing dried out or wilted. In fact they looked as good or better than the things in my local nursery. I was also really impressed with the customer service. I had a question about a pollinator for the holly and Brent got back to me within 30 minutes with the answer. The online information about plants is outstanding. I have been gardening for a long time and really enjoy trying new plants. The selection at Wilson Brothers is amazing. What a great place! ------------ WBG Response - Hi Nancy. Thanks so much for taking the time to provide us and future visitors to Wilson Bros Gardens with your review. The Oakland Holly is a beauty...have several of them in a screen planting in my own landscape and they're doing great. Oakland Holly is self fruiting, and does not need a pollinator to produce an abundance of colorful berries. Thanks again and let us know if there's ever anything else we can help you with.
