The flowers open white and fade to a pinkish-brown in fall. But what distinguishes this hydrangea from other species is its very large, oak leaf-shaped leaves that provide a tropical look in the garden. In fall, the deep green leaves turn handsome shades of purple, orange-bronze and red. Shedding bark provides winter interest in the garden as well.
