Drught tolerant once established however will appreciate supplemental water during prolonged periods of drought and heat. Maintenance is minimal when allowed to grow naturally to its mature size. It can be grown in the ground year round in USDA Zones 9-11. In Zones 8 and further north it will be an annual when grown in the ground or can be grown in pots of 18 inches or more in diameter that can be overwintered indoors when temperatures start dropping below 45F or so. Plants growing in containers filled with a potting soil or potting mix will require closer attention to water needs. Check soil frequently and provide water when the top 2 inches of the soil has dried.
