As the tree grows tall, lower branches can be removed to form an attractive small tree. In mid to late spring, Pink Chimes features abundant pendulous clusters of fragrant, bell-shaped, soft-pink flowers with showy yellow stamens. The drooping flower clusters are easily visible because of the upward posture of the foliage. Flowers give way to cream color, olive-shaped drupes that often persist into late fall to feed many species of birds. Ovate, glossy, medium to deep green leaves up to 3 inches long may turn yellow to red with the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall. Gray bark fissures on older branches to reveal orange inner bark, providing appeal during winter.
