In cold winter climates, flowers bloom on naked stems from late winter to early spring. As with so many other ornamental plants, it does not like constantly soggy or wet conditions. Deer haven't touched it in our gardens. We suggest 5 hours or more of direct sunlight for best flowering. Responds very well to pruning for shaping, size control and tree forming.
