Though this one can be pink in neutral to alkaline soils, we, and obviously the folks who discovered and released this beauty, think it's most unique and beautiful when wearing purple. When the blooms are purple, each flower is adorned with a cute little bright blue eye at the center. To achieve purple, simply plant in acid soil or apply aluminum sulfate to neutral or alkaline soil. Apply pelletized agricultural lime for pink shades. At about 4 feet tall and wide when all grown up, Purple Bayou makes for an eye-catching, colorful specimen in smaller garden spaces and containers or grouped or as a hedge where space allows.
