As with most other \u003ci\u003eCamellia sasanqua\u003c\/i\u003e varieties, Purple Haze shows off an abundance of double, rose-form flowers that open to a red to reddish purple aging to purplish blue. We have some in several locations and the ones in more shade seem to be more purple as well, but that could just be the shade making the flowers look darker in color. Purple Haze prefers an acid soil ranging from 5.0 to 6.0 on the pH scale. To increase soil acidity apply Soil Sulfur or Aluminum Sulfate as directed on the product label. The use of an composted organic matter as a mulch around the plant can also help to increase soil acidity.
