It has sturdy weeping branches that arch over and \"rain\" down to the ground. The branches are covered in vibrant, rosy-pink flowers before the foliage emerges in spring. After flowering, the beautiful heart-shaped leaves emerge a dark purple color. By summer, the leaves turn purple-tinted green. With the arrival of cooler temperatures in fall, the leaves turn to bright yellow for yet another color show. Highly adaptable, heat and cold tolerant (-20F), and easy to grow in most any well-drained soil and sun or partial shade, Purple Rain is a spectacular specimen around patios and other outdoor sitting and living spaces where its colorful flowers and foliage can be enjoyed from close up.
