In summer, very showy, dinner plate-sized flowers 6-9” in diameter have five overlapping white, creamy white or pink petals surrounding a reddish-purple to dark crimson eye. Each flower has a prominent, elongated central stamen with white to soft yellow anthers. Individual flowers last 1-2 days, but new flowers open each day in rapid succession throughout summer well into fall. At the peak of bloom, a large plant can produce 20 or more flowers per day that the hummingbirds and butterflies will certainly appreciate.
