It has a pyramidal form, reaching only 15 feet wide or so, and 40 to 60 feet tall. The height and width it develops will depend on soil moisture, as it grows larger in wet soils and smaller in average or drier soils. It is an excellent fit where space won't accommodate a larger variety. It has the same fluffy, bird-feather-like leaves that emerge light green in spring, maturing to rich green and then orange-brown shades in fall. It will grow in wet soils, even in standing water, as the species does in the Okefenokee Swamp, but is also quite drought-tolerant when established.
