In optimum growing conditions, it will can spread by underground rhizomes to form a colony. It features upright stems that arch gracefully near the top. Exotic-looking creamy white, lily-like flowers each have six showy tepals with generous burgundy-purple spots and blotches. The abundant flowers appear in clusters in the upper leaf axils and stem tips from late summer through early fall. Due to its long stems, Sinonome is a popular selection of the cut flower industry in Japan for years. Ovate, rich green leaves 4 inches long are attractive as well in the garden. A very beautiful perennial for USDA Zones 5-8, plant this one in the ground or containers and situate in part shade to full shade avoiding direct afternoon sun.
