At 25 feet tall and only 5 to 6 feet wide when all grown up, it puts an exclamation point on a landscape that will not go unnoticed. Its towering, sturdy structure has dense, upward-reaching branches clothed in soft-textured clusters of long blue-green needles. Creamy-white candles (new growth) in spring contrast beautifully with the dark blue-green mature foliage. Excellent as a specimen, grouping, or in privacy screen plantings where space is limited. We suggest at least 5 hours of direct sunlight per day. In USDA Zone 8 of the South, we suggest some filtered sun or shade during the afternoon hours when the sun is most intense. It prefers an acid soil ranging from 4.5 to 6.0 on the pH scale. Alkaline soils above 7.0 pH will result in yellowing foliage and poor health. Apply chelated iron or soil sulfur to acidify the soil.
