In spring, perched on nearly every stem tip on the tree are large, 7 inch, fragrant, tulip-shaped, sunshine-yellow flowers flushed and streaked rosy reddish-purple at the base. Sunsation blooms later in spring than any other yellow flowering magnolia. Ovate, large dark green leaves provide a bold texture throughout the season turning yellow in fall.
