A cross between Northern and Southern high bush blueberries, Sweetheart provides tremendous yields of large berries in both summer and fall! You can expect to get a full 15 pounds more fruit from a single bush than with other single season cultivars. Following the spring bloom are baseball-size clusters of large, powder-blue berries with superior flavor and very good firmness. After the first bloom in early spring, baseball-sized clusters of huge berries appear in early to mid summer. Then a summer bloom occurs followed by a second round of berries in fall. The plump and juicy sweet berries are excellent for fresh eating, in salads, breakfast cereals, and with pancakes, muffins and other baked goodies. Excellent for the home orchard or as a specimen, in groupings, or as a hedge in the edible landscape.

NOTE: All of our fruit plants are grown in containers outdoors so they are fully rooted and landscape-ready upon arrival.

Growing Preferences

The Sweetheart Blueberry Bush is very easy to grow. The growing area should be sunny to partially shaded and with well drained soil that is rich in organic matter. It prefers a sandy soil, so adding some river sand to dense, compact soil is beneficial. Acidic soil ranging between 4.5 to 6.0 on the pH scale is a must. If you need to make your soil more acid simply apply Soil Sulfur as directed on the product label. One pound of sulfur applied to 100 square feet of soil will lower the pH about 1 pH unit. Adding organic matter to the soil at planting time, such as composted cow manure or composted leaves, will also help to create an acid soil.

Helpful Articles

Click on a link below to find helpful advice from our experts on how to plant and care for Blueberry bushes.

How To Plant A Blueberry Bush

How To Fertilize & Water Blueberry Bushes

How To Prune A Blueberry Bush

Blueberry Varieties & Cross Pollinators

Plant Long & Prosper!

Meet The Wilson Brothers & Staff

Questions? Contact Us!

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0751/3263/3242/files/vaccinum-sweetheart-blueberry-bush-1_4f13dd1f-87b5-4152-a0bc-aef62c5c4d06.jpg?v=1779912010
