Both azaleas remain successful and teem with energy.\nYet to be an avid gardener planting these two trees correctly gave a couple of concerns.\nWith healthy shrubs for decades growing in immediate space same soil I considered how much new material is necessary\/unnecessary.\nI used 2 uncracked brown eggs per azalea tree, planted approx. 6\" in. down in the soil below the roots and 6\" in. away from the side of roots.\nOne egg on each side of the root ball. In time the eggs decompose and bring rich nutrients into the body of the tree as it's feeler roots grab hold of it in a year+.\nAt the base of the hole dug below egg area is newly added lining of dark soil.\nI sprinkled epsom salt to that layer before backfilling several inches of soil back onto that bottom layer.\nAfter the trees were fully planted I spinkled a small amount of epsom salt 5\" to 6\" inches away from the stem of the plant.\nCan research epsom salts for plants without me explaining it.\nEach gardener may use their own alchemy in tune and with standard principles of fertilizer, minerals, what-have-you.\nI water twice per week for these first months. The first day I watered from the top soil down using garden hose.\nIt was inefficient for me. I chose another method of slow dispensing water spikes that screw onto 2 liter soda type bottles.\n1 bottle per plant, once filled with water placed upside down and inserted at a 45 degree side angle alongside approx. 8\" in. away from the center stem.\nThe spike drips water toward the root ball to completely feed entire root area is the idea more directly.\nThese babies are doing great as we speak.\nYou may need to determine how to aerate surrounding soil for Azalea's thin roots to have plenty of oxygen without getting clogged.\nMy situation seems to have fast drainage. I choose not to mix my soil with separaters for aeration.\nPeople may suggest Perlite and vermiculite for examples to mix in soil to improve oxygen and water drainage.\nTip: Top Soil versus Garden Soil websearch results.\nBags of soil labeled \"garden soil\" may be of higher quality.\nBe sure to check the Wilson's advice page \"how to check soil drainage\". Wilson Bros Gardens is legit.\nBest success to you. Kind Regards, AA-----------------------We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come! Thanks for the great review!
