That said, selective pruning can be done for a desired form. When staked to grow upright it will form a more narrow weeping tree up to 10 feet tall with beautifully weeping branches to the ground. How tall you want it to grow will depend on the height of the stake. It grows best in full sun however in Zones 7b and 8a in the south it will prefer some shade or filtered sun during the middle of the afternoon. Once established water needs are lower when growing in the ground. In pots, soil moisture will need to be monitored more closely, especially during summer.
