Though its giant tractor seat-shaped leaves up to 15 inches across give it a look of the tropics, it's a hardy garden perennial where temperatures don't drop below 0F. Though some sources say it will grow in full to light sun, we've had the best success in our north-central Georgia gardens in partial shade. Morning and evening sun are fine, but afternoon sun causes the leaves to wilt and lose their dark green color. It forms an impressive clump up to 30 inches tall and 3 feet wide with sturdy flower stems rising to 4 feet that bear clusters of bright golden-yellow daisies from late summer through late fall. An excellent plant for garden beds or containers destined to be a conversation piece!
