Similar in habit and appearance to Sweet Autumn Clematis, it is a vigorous vine that explodes with clouds of cute, star-shaped, sweetly fragrant white flowers in late summer, well into fall. Following the flowers are equally abundant and attractive, fluffy-looking, white seed heads, hence one of its common names, Old Man's Beard. Reaching up to 20 feet high or long, we grow it along the top of a fence, and it is also excellent for pergolas, trellises, poles, obelisks, and any other structures that will support it.
