It forms a dense, bright green carpet of thick, rubbery, succulent foliage to about an inch high by 8 to 12 inches wide, which makes it an excellent crevice plant or small-space groundcover or border. In late spring to early summer the foliage becomes smothered with quilled, bright yellow flowers with glowing white centers.
