At 6 to 8 feet tall and 5 feet wide at its base, it is a perfect fit for smaller garden spaces, rock and conifer gardens, containers, pompom topiary, and bonsai. When young, it has a more rounded form but, with age, becomes an upright, dense pyramid clothed in shiny, rich, dark green needles. The candle-like new growth in spring is a handsome orange-bronze color contrasting beautifully with the darker green older foliage. Hardy to USDA Zone 5 (-20F), it is more adaptable to colder climates but also stands up to heat in Zone 9. That said, it doesn't like the combination of high heat and high humidity, so it isn't well-suited for landscapes in the hot and humid South. A low to no-maintenance coniferous evergreen, Willow Creek will appreciate as much sun as you can provide and well-drained soil with average fertility.

Landscape & Garden Uses

The Willow Creek Dwarf Shore Pine is ideal for use as a specimen or in spaced groupings in sunny landscape borders and garden beds. They are drought tolerant when established, but like most coniferous evergreens, they do not like constantly soggy or wet soil. They do not require pruning, but they can be trimmed annually in late winter to maintain a smaller plant or for exciting topiary forms. How To Prune Junipers & Other Conifers

Helpful Articles

Click on the link below for helpful advice from our experts.

How To Prune Junipers & Other Conifers

Plant Long & Prosper!

Meet The Wilson Brothers & Staff

Questions? Contact Us

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0751/3263/3242/files/pinus-contorta-willow-creek-dwarf-shore-pine-2.jpg?v=1779952317
