Though it will grow in wet soils and even standing water, it thrives equally as well in average moist but well-draining soils, where it gradually spreads to form a dense, upright clump to 3 feet or so wide over time. Starting in May in our gardens, remarkably beautiful and elegant flowers are perched atop sturdy stems that rise up to 30 to 36 inches high. With a stunning but subdued color like no other, the flower has peachy tan petals with deep purple veins, each with a prominent bright yellow eye. Contrasting purple standards gloriously crown the top of the flower. Needless to say, it makes for a wonderful cut flower. Sporting very healthy, rich green foliage through the season, Yarai is exceptionally easy to grow and vigorous in USDA Zones 4-9.
