Established plants have good drought tolerance. Constantly soggy or wet soil can cause problems with the roots. We suggest full to mostly sun (6 hours or more of direct sunlight) for best flowering though plants will tolerate some light shade. Maintenance isn't much. Pruning isn't necessary however we do an annual pruning immediately after the spring to ensure more dense plants and heavier bloom.
