Description

A Pear lover's dream tree, the 4-in-1 Combo Pear Tree is an excellent way for those with smaller properties and spaces to enjoy four varieties of delicious European-type pears growing on the same tree, which is accomplished by grafting. So, now you can save space and enjoy a range of flavors, all from one self-pollinating tree. As the name suggests, this tree contains four of the most popular and prized varieties: Bartlett, Harrow Sweet, Red Bartlett, and Summercrisp. Reaching 15 to 20 feet tall and equally as wide on average, this Combo Pear tree is best planted in the ground; however, it can be grown in large containers or planters, but might need transplanting to the landscape if it outgrows the container over time. The fruits mature and are ready for harvest in mid-summer to late summer, depending on location.

Bartlett Pear Description

Perhaps the most popular Pear, Bartlett is prized for its medium- to large-sized fruits with a classic pear (pyriform) shape. Its skin is smooth and typically transitions from green to a golden yellow as it ripens. The flesh is white, juicy, sweet, and aromatic, with a smooth, buttery texture when fully ripe. Bartlett Pears are excellent for fresh eating, canning, and baking, and are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin C, and potassium.

Harrow Sweet Pear Description

The Harrow Sweet Pear is prized for its cold-hardiness and loved for its sweet, juicy, buttery, and creamy flesh with a smooth texture that is not gritty. The fruit has a golden-yellow skin that blushes red in the sun, and is similar in size to a Bartlett pear. Heavy bearing, the fruits begin ripening in late summer and is excellent for fresh eating, baking, and canning, with good storage life.

Red Bartlett Pear Description

A red-skinned variation of the classic Bartlett pear, Red Bartlett Pear produces the classic, bell-shaped fruit but features bright red skin. The flesh is tender and juicy- sweet with aromatic, floral notes when ripe. They begin ripening in late summer and are excellent for fresh eating, canning, baking, and other culinary uses.

Summercrisp Pear Description

The Summercrisp Pear is a cold-hardy, early-season producer loved for its firm, crisp texture and sweet, mild flavor with a hint of spice that is similar to an Asian pear. The fruits begin ripening in late summer and are harvested when they are still green and firm, featuring a red blush, and are excellent for fresh eating and salads.

NOTE: As with all of our other plants and trees, all of our fruit plants are grown in containers outdoors so they are fully rooted and landscape-ready upon arrival.

Landscape & Garden Uses

The 4-in-1 Combo Pear Tree is ideal for use as a specimen in landscape borders, sunny woodland borders, and the home orchard. It can be grown in large containers and planters, but might eventually outgrow the container and need to be planted in the landscape.

Suggested Spacing:  20 feet for space between trees

Growing Preferences

The 4-in-1 Combo Pear Tree grows best in moist, well-drained soil of average fertility and full to mostly sun, where it will receive six or more hours of sunlight daily. Established trees are drought-tolerant; however, they prefer moist soil when there's fruit on the tree.
