Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing in a grassy clump 18 to 24 inches tall and 2 to 3 feet wide, with flower spikes to 3 to 4 feet tall, the Alcazar Red Hot Poker is ideal for use as an accent or grouping in perennial or landscape borders, especially where there is plenty of sunshine. Great around ponds and in rock gardens. A fine addition to perennial gardens, tropical look gardens, hummingbird gardens. Xeriscape gardens (low water needs), and red or orange theme gardens.

Though they will tolerate some light shade, they bloom their best in full to mostly sun. Maintenance is minimal to none. Plants can be cleaned up at the end of winter before ne growth emerges in spring.

Note: In USDA Zone 6 this plant will appreciate a layer of mulch for protection from the cold.
