Description

A petite Abrorvitae that packs big and color punch in the garden, Anna's Magic Ball hold its bright yellow foliage year round. It was developed in Canada, which makes it super cold hardy. That said, plants in our much warmer Georgia Zone 8a gardens are doing well, but we think this is the southern limit on this one. At only 15 inches tall and equally as wide, its petite size is a perfect fit for smaller garden spaces and in containers. An native that packs a punch of color in the landscape, this little beauty that never requires pruning to keep its and rounded shape deserves a spot in ever garden where it will grow. USDA Zones 3a-8a.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 12 to 15 inches tall and equally as wide, Anna's Magic Ball Arborvitae is ideal for use as an accent in smaller garden spaces or in containers and in groupings or as a straight or staggered row in home foundation plantings and landscape borders. Place one on either side of the front steps, driveway or walkway, or other entrances to accentuate these entryways. Also makes a nice miniature hedge. A fine addition to conifer gardens, rock gardens, yellow theme gardens and formal gardens.

Suggested Spacing:  1 foot apart for solid hedges;  2 feet or more apart for space between plants

Growing Preferences

Arborvitae are very easy to grow and care for. They are adaptable to many soil types including red clay and like full sun to plight shade. They prefer a moist but well-drained soil. They don't like an overly dry site. As with so many other ornamental plants, constantly soggy or wet soil can be problematic. Maintenance is minimal with very little if any pruning ever required.
