Description

Providing multi-season interest and color in the landscape, the Arrowwood Viburnum is a reliable and vigorous native flowering shrub the Native Americans used for making arrows, hence the name. It grows in an upright, rounded shape 6 to 10 feet tall and equally as wide with stems clothed in glossy green, oval foliage with toothed edges. Abundant clusters of pretty, flat-topped white flowers come in late spring to early summer that are followed by deep blue berries the birds and other wildlife will thank you for. With plenty of sun, fall foliage is attractive shades of orange and red.

Landscape & Garden Uses

Growing 6 to 10 feet tall and equally as wide, Arrowwood Viburnum is ideal for use as a specimen shrub or in groupings in landscape and flowering shrub borders. Perfect in sunny or partially shady shaded woodland borders. A fine addition to white theme gardens, cottage gardens and bird and wildlife gardens.

Suggested Spacing: 6 to 8 feet apart for solid hedge; 14 feet or more apart for space between plants.

Cultural Preferences

The Arrowwood Viburnum is very easy to grow in most any moist but well drained soil of average fertility and full sun to part shade. It prefers a loamy soil rich in organic matter. Deer haven't touched it in our gardens. Has moderate drought tolerance when established. Responds well to light pruning after flowering for shaping purposes though doing so might remove berries.

I ordered one 3 gallon Viburnum dentatum from Wilson Brothers several weeks ago. I was very impressed by the plant, and decided to purchase 5 more. These plants are very very healthy and are over 4’ tall. They were very well packaged and arrived quickly. They are already planted and look great! These are the “species” (native) and not hybrids, which is what I wanted. I have purchased native plants from Wilson Brothers in the past and have always been pleased with their quality. These Arrowwood Viburnums are wicked amazing!----------------------------------------------Wow! We are so glad you are pleased and we hope you enjoy them for years to come!
