If you love blue flowers, this tree-form version of the Azurri Blue Satin Rose of Sharon is sure to please. A stronger grower and better overall performer in the landscape than other blue flowering varieties, its large hibiscus-like flowers are produced in abundance during the heat of summer providing a tropical look and soothing color in the garden. At 8 to 12 feet tall and 6 feet wide or so, this low-maintenance single trunk tree is ideal for use as an eye-catching focal point specimen in small to medium size landscape and garden beds and home foundation plantings or use two to frame an entryway. You might be happy to know that Azurri Blue Satin produces few if any seeds. After many years growing in our gardens, we've yet to see a seedling sprout. The hummingbirds and butterflies will thank you for planting this one.

Growing 8 to 12 feet tall with a spread to about 6 feet, Azurri Blue Satin Rose of Sharon is ideal for use as a specimen or in spaced groupings in sunny landscape borders and home foundation plantings. We think Rose of Sharon are most useful in the landscape as a focal point specimen. That said, they are also nice grouped or used as attractive, colorful hedges in landscape borders. Excellent around patios and other outdoor living spaces where the pretty flowers and hummingbirds and butterflies feeding can be enjoyed from close up. A fine addition to tropical look gardens, blue theme gardens, humming gardens, cottage gardens and the Xeriscape (low water needs when established).

Rose of Sharon are easy to grow and maintain in most any average, moist but well-drained soil and plenty of sunshine. Some shade will be tolerated but flowering won't be as heavy and plants may be leggier and tend to flop. Is drought tolerant when established however produces more flowers in a consistently moist but well-drained soil. Maintenance is minimal requiring little or no pruning and plants are quite drought tolerant when established. This tree form version can be pruned for shaping purposes one time per year in late winter or very early spring before new growth emerges.
